Our Class Map

It all started when we read about the first Americans coming across a land bridge between Asia and North America. A land bridge between Asia and North America!? our brains immediately thought. We were perplexed. What was this land bridge and where is it now? A few friends in our class had read in the past about a land mass called "Pangaea." We wondered why and how North America and Asia got seperated? We made a huge map of the world. The picture below shows our first draft of Pangaea!

Look at the amazing Pangaea Charlotte and some friends made above!

This is a picture of our map that we drew and cut out and got laminated and then put on the blue paper!

There were groups of 2 and each group had their own continent to make. All of the continents had to be a different color. We used the compass rose to locate where we should put the continents.

The compass rose was colored to make it look more interesting.

Sofie, Kaitlyn, Melani, Nikki, Tyler and Case wrote the oceans on the map. It was very hard to make Asia and Europe because they had to connect. Write any comments below to let us know how you like it!

Thank you for listening,
Nikki and Sofia

Let's Think About Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus...what's the first thing you think of when you hear this name? First American explorer, of course. The Pinta, the Nina, and the Santa Maria.  A few days ago we made this amazing poster full of facts about Christopher Columbus. There are still  a few things we still wonder. Here are some wonders: What island did he land on?  When was the storm that sank the Santa Maria?

Here is our poster of facts about Christopher  Columbus.
You probably thought Columbus landed first, but the vikings found America a decade before him.
Look at these great facts that our own classmates wrote.

These facts came out of the book Atlas of Exploration. It's a great book.

Here are some other great facts.
The most interesting and surprising fact we discovered was that Christopher Columbus went to jail after his famous voyages. He was lazy and didn't control the Spanish sailors in the New World. Write a comment...we want to know what you think about this post! What do you know about Columbus? Thanks for reading!
